IELTS SPEAKING SAMPLE ANSWER BAND 7.0 – 7.5: TOPIC WORK (3 PART)

IELTS SPEAKING SAMPLE ANSWER PART 1 – COMMUNICATION

IELTS Speaking sample answer Part 1 chủ đề Communication

  • How do you usually keep in touch with members of your family?

I phone them on a daily basis. Almost everyone got themselves a cell phone these days so it’s not a big deal for us to stay in touch. It’s convenient because you can talk on the phone while doing other things such as cooking, doing laundry or even walking the dog.

  • Which is your favorite way to communicate? Why?

Recently I prefer to text messages because, unlike phone calls, the person you’re contacting doesn’t feel like they need to respond right away. If they’re in the middle of something, they might wait a few hours to respond, but the conversation will continue despite the interruption.

  • Do you ever write letters by hand? Why / Why not?

Oh yeah, it’s pretty fun, and it’s one of the few times I’d write something with my fountain pens. There are some instances where a text or email seems rather impersonal. Love letters, thanks, welcome, farewells, etc. are really nice when handwritten.

IELTS SPEAKING SAMPLE ANSWER PART 2 – COMMUNICATION

IELTS Speaking sample answer Part 2 chủ đề Communication

Describe how you like to communicate with your friends.

You should say:

  • how you prefer to communicate with your friends
  • how often you use this method of communication
  • what disadvantages there are to communicate in this way

and explain why you prefer this method of communication.

Thanks to the rapid development of modern technology, there are various means of communication nowadays. Besides the traditional methods of communication which include face-to-face communication and written letters, we now have computers, smartphones and even watches that we can use to stay in touch with people. My friends and I generally depend on our phones to stay in contact. We always have them with us so it’s most convenient. I message or call my friends every day. I use my phone so much that I actually can’t imagine how I would cope without it for a day!

While phones are a great means of communication, they’re also not without their drawbacks. The most obvious downside is that people waste a lot of time on their phones, constantly messaging and posting on social media. As a result, people can get addicted to phones and forget what’s happening around them. Also, while I think phones are great as they enable people to stay in touch with those far away, I also think it’s important for people to have real face-to-face meetings. I think teenagers especially are spending so much time socializing through screens that they’re forgetting how to do it in person.

But even though there are some negatives about using phones, I don’t think anyone can deny that they are a massively helpful tool. I love that I can always talk with my friends, even if they’re far away. We also get lots of group projects in school and I can use my phone to create an iMessage group that has everyone in it and we can discuss and plan our projects together, which is really helpful.

IELTS SPEAKING SAMPLE ANSWER PART 3 – COMMUNICATION

IELTS Speaking sample answer Part 3 chủ đề Communication

  • Can you describe how people communicated fifty years ago?

Looking back to fifty years ago, the older generations, such as our grandparents and parents, had very limited means of communication. Most communication would have been face-to-face, meaning that you would mostly only speak to the people in your neighborhood or you would have to travel long ways to see someone. Written letters and landline telephones were also around, though the former would not always get delivered and the latter would only have been used by the better off. It’s crazy to think that if you moved far away from your family 50 years ago, you mightn’t speak with them for months or years at a time whereas now you can skype them whenever you want.

  • What are the good points about writing and receiving letters?

In my opinion, writing a letter is a unique and special way to express your feelings towards others through your personal handwriting style. I also think it shows that you truly appreciate the person you are writing to. I used to have a pen pal when I was younger and now have a collection of letters that she wrote to me, sometimes it’s nice to take them out and reread them, which is something I never do with emails. It’s really nice to have the physical copies as mementos of your friendship. Another good point about letters is that not everyone knows how to use modern technology such as emails and messages.

  • How do you think methods of communication will change in the future?

I personally think that the methods of communication won’t change much in the future, though I think they will get more efficient. We now have everything that we need to communicate, varying from phones, laptops and tablets. Perhaps in the coming years, people will no longer need to actually meet each other anymore and most of the everyday conversations will take place online through electrical devices.
